The program is based on three themes promoting science, nature, and equal opportunities for well-being. Valmet expanded its global social responsibility program with several area-specific projects promoting science, nature and equal opportunities in 2022. The local projects kicked off successfully during 2023, touching the lives of many individuals and local communities around the world. To further strengthen its positive impact globally, Valmet has decided to continue the program in 2024.

Making the world a better place for children

Valmet’s global social responsibility program consists of several local programs around the world. In the Asia Pacific area, we have cooperated with The Mirror Foundation to improve the facilities at three rural schools in Thailand. The work was finalized earlier this year, and the project’s completion was celebrated in a special ceremony in March.

As one of the local projects under Valmet’s social responsibility program, we have joined forces with The Mirror Foundation in Thailand to help children have better learning and living conditions in the country’s northern Chiang Rai province. In January, we were invited to participate the National Children’s Day celebrations at two local schools.

Based on employee voting, the chosen institution for Chile in 2024 was Hogar de los sueños, a non-profit organization that seeks to expand development opportunities for children from vulnerable socioeconomic conditions through sports and artistic activities.

“Valmet's corporate social responsibility in China focuses on supporting youth health and developing industry talent, particularly in the field of industry talent development. Since 2009, Valmet has awarded scholarships to undergraduate students at three major universities in the pulp and paper industry. Starting in 2023, new scholarships for postgraduate students at several leading industrial universities have been established.
