Over recent years we have witnessed several events which only a decade ago would have been unthinkable. We all remember the photos of the small digger trying to free the massive cargo ship from the banks of Suez Canal, and we can still feel the effects of the viral pandemic. Moreover, the ever more frequent extreme weather patterns, such as floods and hurricanes, impose an additional uncertainty. There is clearly much more unpredictability around us. Just as the physical environment changes, so does the figurative environment we do business in; and these changes have certainly highlighted the fragility of the global supply chains.
