Controlling your flotation process

Controlling your flotation process

Flotation is an important part of mineral processing in most mining operations, requiring an accurate, durable, and repeatable level control valve to manage level control in the column, cell, staged reactor, or direct reactor. The head pressure to the control valve from each type of flotation process makes sizing a critical function to ensure proper operation of the valve and performance of the solution. For instance, flotation cells have very low driving head pressure to the valve. Since the head pressure is so low, inlet velocities, outlet velocities, and any bends or elbows in the piping can affect this low head pressure. If all factors are not considered carefully in this case, the danger is mis-sizing the level control valve on the low side.

Valve portfolio built on innovations

Valve portfolio built on innovations

In 1973, Antti Nelimarkka, the creative engineer behind Neles range of valves, came up with an idea that was fine-tuned until production commenced in 1975. For the valves to be more reliable in demanding conditions and applications, Nelimarkka thought of using a metallic seat ring instead of a rubber one—and the game-changer was born.

Careful, data-driven planning combined with OEM expertise is the key to a successful plant turnaround

Careful, data-driven planning combined with OEM expertise is the key to a successful plant turnaround

Process plants make a living by keeping their production lines up and running near-uninterruptedly, but in order to do that safely and efficiently they have to plan maintenance shutdowns, turnarounds and outages (STOs) at critical intervals. The purpose of an STO may range from performing repairs and cleaning the process to implementing major modifications and performing inspections mandated by operating license requirements.
