Valmet to deliver a comprehensive reel control system upgrade to Holmen Iggesund in Sweden

Valmet Oyj’s trade press release January 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. EET

Valmet will deliver a comprehensive reel control system upgrade to Holmen’s Iggesund mill in Sweden. The upgrade is set to be delivered in October 2025, and it will replace the reel servo and control systems of the mill’s board machine 2 (BM2).

The order is included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2024. The value of the order will not be disclosed.

The upgrade will modernize critical components of the reel control system, improving spare parts availability and extending the system’s operational lifespan. The latest technology will significantly reduce the risk of unplanned downtime caused by component failures.

“We are truly looking forward to collaborating with Valmet on this project. Ensuring the efficient commissioning of the machine after the reel control system upgrade is of utmost importance, especially given the tight delivery and installation schedule,” says Mikael Larsson, Senior Project Manager, Holmen Iggesund.

“This order marks a key step in strengthening our long-term partnership with Holmen Board and Paper. Upgrading the reel controls at the Iggesund Mill will make the process more reliable and allow us to provide an enhanced level of service while we work closely with the customer to plan future upgrades,” says Arto Kumpulainen, Senior Product Sales Manager, EMEA Area, Valmet.
