Valmet to deliver a SymBelt upgrade to Mercer Stendal in Germany

Valmet will deliver a SymBelt Shoe Press Roll upgrade with Valmet Black Belt shoe press belt and SymBelt services to Mercer Stendal pulp mill in Germany.

The order was included in Valmet’s orders received of the third quarter 2024. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The delivery will take place during the mill’s annual shutdown in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The SymBelt Shoe Press Roll upgrade consists of a specially designed SymBelt Pin Head, ensuring an accurate belt installation and improved belt lifetime. The upgraded SymBelt Shoe Press roll will be equipped with a Valmet Black Belt that, together with regular servicing, secures the roll’s optimal performance.

Technical information about the delivery
The delivery consists of the SymBelt Shoe Press Roll upgrade, the installation of wear, chemical, and heat-resistant
Valmet Black Belt, and SymBelt roll services securing roll runnability.

Mercer Stendal is part of the North American Mercer International Group, a forest products company with operations in Germany, Canada, and the United States. In Stendal, Mercer operates one of Europe’s most modern pulp mills and implements a biorefinery concept where wood is used extensively for pulp, bioenergy, and biochemicals, such as tall oil, turpentine, and methanol. Today, after several large optimization projects,
 Mercer Stendal's annual production capacity of kraft pulp is 740,000 tons. The biomass power plant at the site is one of the largest of its kind in Germany with an output of 148 megawatts.
