Valmet supplies machine vision to Stora Enso’s more sustainable barrier coating process
Valmet Oyj’s trade press release on December 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. EET
Valmet will supply a Valmet IQ Web Inspection System (WIS) to Stora Enso’s coating and laminating plant in Forshaga, Sweden. The new system will be installed on an extrusion coating line producing a new dispersion barrier paperboard for paper cups and food packaging. The order was included in Valmet's orders received of the third quarter 2020.
Made without the traditional plastic layer, the process is more sustainable and sets tight margins for quality management. The high-quality board is liquid and grease resistant during use. It is also recyclable and breaks down like paper in the recycling process to provide a high yield of recovered fiber.
“We looked in particular at delivery security, that our technical requirements were met and that there were service personnel available in our vicinity. The long experience and knowledge of streak detection also led us to choose Valmet as supplier for the new WIS system to Stora Enso Forshaga,” says Leif Karlsson, Project Manager, Stora Enso
Valmet IQ Web Inspection System provides efficient and continuous online quality control to reduce the origins of web defects.
“Valmet IQ Web Inspection System enables reliable identification of production that does not meet the highest quality criteria. With this industry-leading machine vision technology the mill operators can quickly focus on specific quality problems and make necessary improvements to product quality and process efficiency," says Aki Torvinen, Business Manager, Quality Management Solutions, Automation, Valmet.
Further details about Valmet’s delivery
