Valmet to modernize flue gas desulphurization at Rokita's CHP plant in Poland

Valmet Oyj's trade press release on January 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. EET

Valmet will modernize a flue gas desulphurization (FGD) of PCC Rokita SA's combined heat and power (CHP) plant that is located at their chemical plant in Brzeg Dolny, Poland. Valmet's delivery is part of a project in which PCC Rokita SA will make a major investment to modernize the flue gas system of three coal fired boilers to meet future emission limit values. The modernization project will include replacing key equipment and modifying the absorber design and is expected to be finalized during the fourth quarter of 2017.

The order is included in Valmet's fourth quarter 2016 orders received. The value of a project of this size and scope is typically around EUR 2 million.

"These kind of modernizations improve the sustainability and environmental performance of existing power and heat plants. This project is a good example of strong cooperation of our Finish and Polish teams enabling us to improve our customer's performance," says Markus Bolhàr-Nordenkampf, Director, EMEA Energy Sales & Services, Valmet.

Technical details of the delivery

In 1994 Valmet delivered a flue gas desulphurization to PCC Rokita SA, which was the first flue gas desulfurization plant in Poland. As a leading supplier of flue gas cleaning technology, Valmet is well positioned for modernization of any existing emission control system.

Valmet is currently delivering two similar FGD systems to Poland for Ciech Soda Polska SA in Inowroclaw and Janikowo.

"Modernization of PCC Rokita FGD plant demonstrates our life cycle customer support. This project is among several other flue gas cleaning modernizations executed by Valmet to extend plant life, increase capacity and efficiency, and gives way for future deliveries of similar projects enforced by BAT implementation," concludes Hanna Niittyniemi, Manager, Business Development, EMEA Energy Sales & Services, Valmet.
