Valmet to deliver valve solutions for gigawatt-scale green hydrogen projects
Dec 19, 2022
Valmet will deliver valve solutions for gigawatt-scale green hydrogen plants. The orders cover a total of 440 valves, including the next-generation butterfly valves that allow improved process performance with a minimized environmental footprint.
The orders are included in Valmet’s orders received of the second and third quarter 2022. The value of the orders will not be disclosed.
“As industry decarbonization proceeds, the role of green and blue hydrogen as carbon-neutral fuel, produced from renewable energy or through CO2 removal, will continue to grow. We have worked with demanding industrial gas applications such as hydrogen for decades and have a dedicated unit focusing specifically on green hydrogen. Together with our customers, who are forerunners in enabling the clean energy transition, our aim is to make industrial processes more sustainable,”
Valmet expanded its offering with valve solutions in April 2022, when the industrial flow control company Neles was merged into Valmet. Neles is now a Flow Control business line at Valmet.
Safe and efficient hydrogen production: Thousands of valves delivered for hydrogen applications worldwide
New electrolysis technologies and utilization of explosive industrial gases, such as hydrogen, require valves that can perform under demanding pressure and temperature conditions. Valmet’s comprehensive flow control offering covers the majority of applications in the industrial use of hydrogen. During the past decade, Valmet has delivered several thousands of valve solutions for use in hydrogen production worldwide.
“Valves used in electrolyzers must comply with the strictest regulations for safety and reliability. For example, our next-generation butterfly valves and the Neles™ Q-Trim™ technology provide high performance with long-lasting tightness for very demanding process conditions, such as hydrogen production. Electrolyzer producers also have their own solutions and processes to some extent. We work closely with our customers so that we can offer tailored valve solutions and services for their respective processes,”
