Valmet has received an order for a large fine paper machine from Willamette Industries for its paper mill in Kingsport, Tennessee, USA. The delivery will take place in spring 2001, and the start-up will be in June 2002. The order includes some parts manufactured for the delayed delivery to the Indonesian APRIL Group and the uncertainty related to the inventory value of this delayed delivery has now been removed.
The new fine paper machine is part of the expansion project of Willamette Industries at the Kingsport mill. The new machine will replace two existing smaller fine paper machines. The machine represents state-of-the art Valmet technology for fine paper. Its wire width is 9,35 meters, and the design speed is 1 500 m/min. The machine will produce printing and writing papers, copy papers and offset papers with basis weights ranging from 67.7 to 88.8 g/sq.m.
The order comprises a dilution-controlled SymFlo headbox, SpeedFormer MB , OptiPress I, SymRun drying section and runnability components, OptiSizer, 2-nip soft calender, OptiReel, and Damatic XDi machine control system.
Valmet has earlier delivered several machines and machine rebuilds to Willamette Industries. The latest deliveries were large fine paper machines to Hawesville Mill in Kentucky and Johnsonburg Mill in Pennsylvania.
