Valmet, the fiber and paper technology business area of Valmet-Rauma Corporation, will supply Drewsen Spezialpapiere of Germany with a specialty paper production line. The production, to be commenced at the Lachendorf, northern Germany mill in autumn 2000, will be comprised of specialty papers for technical and information technical uses. The order is included in Valmet-Rauma’s January-June 1999 order backlog. The value of the contract will not be released.

Valmet will carry out the mill engineering and supply the entire paper manufacturing line, including - in addition to the paper machine - stock preparation, hood and air systems, process automation, electrification, erection, start-up and training. Paper width at reel will be 480 cm. The paper grades are with a grammage range of 50 to 120 g/m2. The new paper machine has been designed with a special attention to the high quality requirements of Drewsen papers. Valmet units in Finland and Italy will participate in this delivery.

With the new production line Drewsen will strengthen and expand its successful position in the production of customized high-quality specialty papers. The company’s existing paper machines will continue producing the paper grades being presently manufactured, i.e., graphic and information technical specialty papers as well as security and bond papers. Drewsen Spezialpapiere GmbH & Co. KG is a 461 years old family company. It has paper mills in Lachendorf, Germany, and Silkeborg, Denmark.
