UPM-Kymmene Fine Paper Group's Nordland Papier AG has selected Valmet to rebuild their #2 coater in Dörpen in North-West Germany. Nordland Papier Ag produces 1300.000 tons of high quality coated and uncoated paper at the Dörpen mill. This huge 4-station coater is one of the largest coaters Valmet has delivered. The coater was originally started up in Summer 1996 and has a web width of 9500 mm, design speed of 1500 m/min. The coater is currently equipped with roll applicators which will be rebuilt to OptiCoat Jet coating stations. The delivery will also include OptiAir deaerators from Valmet-Raisio and a machine circulation rebuild to the high technology level which the Jet-coating process requires. The renewed coater will start-up next summer.

Valmet recently rebuilt PM 4 in Dörpen with the state-of-the-art OptiConcept technology. This operation dramatically increased the capacity and quality potential of the machine. PM 4 also feeds base paper to coater #2 which made this coater rebuild a natural continuation in the mill's investment program.

This is Valmet's 6th large coater order for coated fine papers in the year 2000. The rest of the orders were received for Metsä-Serla's MoDo Paper in Sweden, UPM-Kymmene's Kuusankoski PM 8 in Finland, Metsä-Serla Kangas PM 4 in Finland, Gold East Paper Jiangsu's OMC 2 in China and StoraEnso Oulu's OMC 6 in Finland.

Valmet has received 20 OptiCoat Jet coating station orders this year, sustaining their leading position in jet-coating technology today.
