UPM's fine paper machine sets a new world record at Kuusankoski, Finland

The Metso Paper supplied paper making line at UPM Kuusankoski mill in Finland has set a new world speed record for fine paper machines. The Kymi PM 8 paper machine ran at an average speed of 1 584 m/min (95 km/h) for a period of 24 hours, producing pre-coated fine paper.

The record-breaking machine was supplied by Metso Paper in 1983. In 2001, Metso Paper rebuilt the machine almost completely, modernizing both the wet end and the paper finishing equipment of the line.

The Kymi PM 8 produces coated fine papers. The wire width of the machine is 9.2 meters.
