Successful start-ups for Metso Paper in Southern Europe

Metso Paper Como has recently started up two machine rebuild projects in Southern Europe.
The testliner machine PM 2 of Cartiera Cadidavid, Verona, Italy, was taken into operation after rebuild in mid February. At the start -up the machine produced 140 g/m2 testliner at the speed of 730 m/min. The wire width of the machine is 3000 mm and the design speed 1000 m/min.
The rebuild comprised OptiFlo and SymFlo headboxes, rebuild of forming section with new OptiFormer, press section with SymPress, extension of dryer section, ValReel, WinDrum winder and auxiliary equipment. Metso Paper was also responsible for erection and start-up supervision as well as training.
The rebuild of PM 2 of Papelera del Torraspapel was started up in Motril, Spain. During the start-up the machine produced woodfree base paper of 51 g/m2 at the speed of 900 m/min. The wire width of the machine is 3650 mm and the design speed 1200 m/min.
The project included new fourdrinier forming section, press section with OptiPress, dryer section rebuild, ValReel, auxiliary equipment as well as hood and ventilation system. Mechanical erection, start-up supervision, and training were also included.
