Metso has gained an order to rebuild the existing brown stock washing and process control systems at the Ambro mill in Romania. The mill, which mainly produces kraft liner board, is located at Suceava in the northeast of the country. The order is valued at close to EUR 5 million. The equipment will be installed in spring 2007, with start-up scheduled for July 2007.
Metso Paper's scope of delivery consists of the replacement of six existing drum washers with two new TRPB-924-type TwinRoll wash presses. The revamped line is designed for a daily production of 350 tons of high kappa pulp. The order also includes the necessary engineering, control valves and field instruments, as well as erection and start-up supervision and spare parts.
Metso Automation will supply a metsoDNA process control system for the pulp washing and reject handling processes, including both existing and new equipment. The line will be operated from two metsoDNA consoles located in the cooking plant control room.
The process modernization ordered from Metso is aimed at improving efficiency and profitability, while reducing the environmental impact of pulp production.
The mill, which was originally designed to produce 300-320 tons/day of kraft liner, was stopped in February 2005 and will be re-started at the end of August 2006.
The Ambro pulp & paper mill today belongs to the independent French-owned Rossmann Group. The Rossmann Group is one of the leading producers of corrugated board boxes in Europe. The company has a number of subsidiaries in Africa, Italy, Romania, Poland, Belgium and Spain. The Group's revenue expanded from EUR 99 million in 1985 to EUR 440 million in 2004 and it globally employs 3,500 persons.
Metso is a global engineering and technology corporation with 2005 net sales of approximately EUR 4.2 billion. Its 22,000 employees in more than 50 countries serve customers in the pulp and paper industry, rock and minerals processing, the energy industry and selected other industries. www.metso.com
