Metso reduces personnel in Valkeakoski and Jämsänkoski, Finland

Metso has concluded the employee negotiations regarding their unit in Valkeakoski and the Jämsänkoski Service Point belonging to it, in Finland, on November 23, 2009. As a result of the negotiation process initiated on September 30, 2009 a total of 11 persons in regular employment will be reduced, some of whom will be covered with pension arrangements. The reductions will be concluded by autumn 2010. The reduction notice applied to 17 people.

The employee negotiations initiated simultaneously in Fiber business line’s (FBL) units in Sweden still continue. The reductions are part of the process to streamline FBL’s operations and cost structure, to improve its competitiveness in a changing business environment.

Metso's unit in Valkeakoski, which belongs to the company’s Paper and Fiber business lines, specializes in equipment and related expert services for stock preparation, recycled fiber and mechanical pulping. A service point is located in Jämsänkoski.
