Metso Paper to supply the world's largest printing paper line to Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings, China

Papierfabrik Rieger in Germany has placed an order with Metso Paper for a WinDrum winder. The WinDrum winder will be delivered to the mill for use on their white top testliner machine. Start-up of the winder is scheduled for April 2006.
The WinDrum winder has a trim width of 2,5 meters and its operating speed is 2500 m/min. The winder is equipped with automatic set change and slitter positioning, slitter dust removal system as well as a core feeding system for three different core sizes.
Papierfabrik Rieger, part of the W. Hamburger Group, is located in Trostberg, Bavaria, Germany. The mill operates two board machines producing 140,000 tons of white top testliner and folding boxboard per year.Metso Paper has signed a contract with Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings Ltd, China, for the delivery of the world's largest printing paper manufacturing line. The new line in Shouguang, in Shandong province, will have an annual capacity exceeding 400,000 tons. Start-up is scheduled for the last quarter of 2006. The value of the agreement is well over EUR 100 million.
The Chenming Shouguang printing paper line features the world's largest deinking line, an OptiConcept paper machine, two WinBelt winders, a wide range of automation, control and monitoring systems by Metso Automation, and various auxiliary systems. The 2-loop deinking line, with a daily production capacity of 1500 tons, features Metso's technology for all processes from pulping and bleaching to reject handling. The PM 4 OptiConcept paper machine represents the latest technology in papermaking with a design speed of 2000 m/min.
In addition, Metso's scope of delivery includes approach flow, broke collection and handling and fiber recovery systems, as well as chemical handling systems for both the deinking line and paper machine.
Shandong Chenming Holdings Ltd. is one of China’s largest paper producers. The company selected Metso Paper as the supplier of its new deinking and papermaking lines thanks to the long-term co-operation between the companies. Metso Paper's previous major deliveries to the Chenming group include four complete paper machines - Shouguang PM 1 in 1998, Shouguang PM 2 and Wuhan Hanyang PM 1 in 2002, and Jiangxi Chenming PM 1 in 2005 - as well as a CTMP line to the Shouguang mill in 2005.
The contract for the Shandong Chenming PM 4 was signed by Risto Hautamäki, President of Metso Paper, Inc. and Mr. Chen, President of Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings Ltd., on June 16, 2005.
