Metso Paper to supply logline at Alpac

Alberta Pacific Forest Industries, Inc has contracted with Metso Paper to supply a complete tree-length logline for its mill in Boyle, Alberta, Canada. The project will streamline the wood room operations while providing capacity for future production needs. The scope of supply from Metso includes two GentleFeedTM conveyors for the loading and deicing of Aspen random/tree-length logs, as well as a heavy-duty Debarking Drum equipped with ExtensiSlotsTM to aid bark removal. Also included are log washing/rock separation, a high-capacity split chipper feed conveyor, and a 138" Carthage® back-discharge chipper that includes QuickLockTM, Metso Paper's one-bolt clamping system that significantly reduces the time it takes to change the chipper knives.
In addition to the main equipment, the supply from Metso Paper includes bark and water clean-up conveyors, erection support, training, commissioning, and start up assistance.
The system is will process over 2,464,000 cubic meters of solid wood under bark annually and is designed to operate in severe temperatures as low as -40ºC.
