Metso Paper has received an order from SCA Packaging Munksund, Piteå, Sweden for a rebuild of linerboard machine PM 1. The rebuilt machine will start up in April 2003.
The Metso Paper order comprises a new advanced press section concept, which was developed together with SCA Munksund at Metso Paper's pilot plant in Karlstad, Sweden. The press section has four press nips, including two SymBelt™ shoe presses and a transfer belt.
PM 1 will produce a wide grammage range from 105 g/m2 of white top liner to 440 g/m2 of brown liner, at speeds up to 1100 m/min.
SCA Packaging Munksund has made innovative rebuilds on its linerboard machine earlier as well. They were one of the first mills to use a shoe press and the very first to install a dilution-controlled headbox in a board machine.
