Metso Paper will supply Meadow Lake CTMP pulp mill in Canada with two new Roboapplyer-Roll wrapping machines of type ERC, which will replace existing EAC sheet-wrapping machines in the mill's flash-drying line for pulp. The modernization will lower the cost both for wires and wrapping.
The Roboapplyers will be installed in one line at the time to keep the production running. Both machines will be started up during April 2008. Metso Paper has earlier supplied the two existing baling lines at Meadow Lake.
The high-capacity Roboapplyer-Roll uses paper for wrapping and is commonly used for flash-dried pulp. It is also used for sheeted pulp when bar codes are to be printed on the bale. Overlapping the ends of the wrapper underneath the bale saves the cost of one to two baling wires.
The Meadow Lake plant achieved high environmental standards by being the first in the world to have no liquid effluent discharge. The production capacity is 325 000 mtpy of bleached CTMP (chemi-thermo-mechanical pulp).
