Metso Paper has further streamlined its structure and operating model as of August 1, 2007. With the streamlining the company aims to serve its customer segments more effectively.
As informed earlier, there are five business lines operating under the management of Bertel Langenskiöld, President of Metso Paper: Paper and Board (Hannu Mälkiä), Fiber (Per-Åke Färnstrand), Tissue (Marco Marcheggiani), Power (Lennart Ohlsson) and Panelboard (Pentti Välimäki). Each business line has global responsibility for its own key operations and resources.
The business lines are supported by the following common functions: finance, HR, IT (Harri Nikunen); strategic development (Mikko Siiteri, Juhani Kyytsönen); key customers (Risto Hautamäki); legal matters (Henrik Bergendahl); IPR and technology coordination (Jouko Yli-Kauppila); quality and environment (Kari Karhama, as of Sept. 1); and marketing and communications (Ilkka Hiirsalmi).
Each business line has complete responsibility for the customer service in its own segment. The lines also take care of corresponding aftermarket and service operations, coordinated on Metso Paper level by PBL Service unit (Jari Vähäpesola). Due to the technological expertise of the Power business line, its responsibility extends to two customer segments: pulp industry and power generation.
The structure of the Paper and Board business line has been clarified by combining all units serving the same customer segment (former PBL, FIN, SBL and FBL's Stock Preparation and Recycled Fiber businesses) into one and the same organization.
The structure of the Fiber business line remains as it was formed after the AKPP merger. Also the structures of the Tissue and Panelboard business lines remain unchanged.
The operating model of other common functions and areas will be informed in early September.
