Boost web strength and save energy in forming with innovative Sleeve roll
Date: November 20th, 1pm EDT, 45 minutes + Q&A
Description
This innovation, Sleeve roll technology, redefines dewatering by harnessing the power of compression already in the forming section, reducing the need for energy-intensive vacuum methods that conventional forming technologies rely on. As Sleeve roll technology does not require vacuum energy, it saves energy in both the vacuum system and drives of the forming section, helping paper/board makers to reduce CO2 footprint.
Sleeve roll technology can also help you optimize dewatering processes, minimize downtime, and maximize throughput, all which contribute to improved performance and increased production.
By joining this insider session, you will learn about:
- Basic operating principle of this transformative technology
- Forming section concepts suitable for Sleeve roll technology
- Benefits of this novel technology – energy savings & increased production
- Production scale references and results
Can't make the live session? Don't worry, once you register we will send you a full high quality recording of the insider session that you can review at any time.
[NOTE: This session will be in the English language. This event is only offered to pulp, paper, board and tissue producers, P&P industry consultants and university faculty and students. Use your company or university domain email address when registering. Products and services mentioned in this presentation may not be available in all regions.]
VALMET PRESENTERS

Petteri Halme Petteri began his career in the Pulp & Paper Industry and with Valmet-Karhula in 1994 as a development engineer working with mechanical designs of various paper machine sections & rolls. He got involved with shoe pressing which later led him to experiment papermaking with Valmet’s pilot machines as R&D Manager, Press Section in Jyvaskyla, Finland. In this capacity, he helped with launching, commissioning & optimizing new press section configurations in close cooperation with Valmet project teams and customers. Later he was in charge of Valmets press section project engineering as Engineering Manager, Press Sections in Jyvaskyla, Finland. He currently holds a position of Technology Manager in Valmet’s North American Paper Machine Technology Group supporting Valmet’s North American customers and various Valmet North American teams.
Petteri holds a Master’s Degree in Machine Design from the University of Technology in Lappeenranta, Finland. He’s based in Norcross, GA. |

Tuuli Silomaa Ms. Silomaa, a promising young talent, earned her Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oulu in 2017.During her studies, 2012 – 2015, Ms. Silomaa worked as a process operator at Stora Enso Sheeting factory in Oulu. After completing her studies and finishing her master’s thesis for Valmet, Ms. Silomaa continued to work for Valmet as a Development Engineer in Rolls R&D for 4 years. During this time, she was working in several demanding product development projects of deflection compensated rolls for the paper and board machine industry.
Leveraging the knowledge gained in the rolls R&D engineering position, Ms. Silomaa made a seamless transition to Wet End R&D as a Development Engineer in 2021. Currently, she works there as a Product Responsible Development Engineer for the Sleeve roll technology. |
We listened to all of the great feedback we received on enhancing our program and will now be offering Certificates of Attendance. In order to receive a Certificate, you must attend the session up until the Q&A portion.
