Liansheng TM5 and TM6 new tissue production lines successfully launched

Mar 13, 2025

February resulted in the successful start-up of two new IntelliTissue 1600 production lines at Liansheng Pulp & Paper mill in China.

Fortunate start-up of TM5 at Liansheng Pulp & Paper

On February 25, 2025, Liansheng Pulp and Paper’s Zhangpu Base successfully launched its TM5 tissue production line. This achievement follows the earlier success of the Valmet IntelliTissue 1600 production line TM6, which started production on February 16, 2025. Both TM5 and TM6, supplied by Valmet, have been smoothly started up, marking a significant expansion of the collaboration between Liansheng and Valmet. This accomplishment not only strengthens their existing partnership, but also emphasizes Liansheng’s trust in Valmet’s technology, enhancing their competitiveness in the tissue market.

A moment of TM6 triumph at Liansheng Pulp & Paper

This project highlights the deeper communication and cooperation between Liansheng and Valmet. It includes the delivery of two complete Valmet 2850/1600 tissue machines, as well as Valmet's supply for Liansheng's other four machines in 'pursuing high-quality headboxes'. The technical configurations of Valmet's machines TM5 and TM6 provide customers with enduring competitive advantages. These technologies include the IntelliJet V headbox, fully-cantilevered press section, hydraulically loaded high-nip press suction roll, unique Yankee dryer structure with energy-saving hoods, and a new reel section. These features will certainly help Liansheng to achieve a perfect combination of quality, energy consumption, and capacity."

Harrison Zhang, Senior Sales Manager, Valmet

The successful launch of these two production lines is the best testament to our collaborative efforts. We will continue to maintain a rigorous work attitude and innovative spirit to ensure the stable and efficient operation of TM5 and TM6, while continuously producing high-quality paper products. This will further enhance Liansheng's competitiveness in the tissue paper market."

Cao Weizhong, Site Manager of Valmet TM5 and TM6

Technical highlights of the TM5 and TM6 production lines:

  • Valmet's unique fully imported IntelliJet V headbox

It not only ensures excellent paper formation, but also reduces energy consumption in approach and recirculation. It provides Liansheng with exceptional paper quality while minimizing energy use.

  • Full cantilever press section

It significantly reduces the time required to change felts (to just one hour) and features a transverse walkway for easy maintenance by operators. The press suction roll is hydraulically loaded, ensuring stable high-pressure loading under normal conditions and higher dryness after pressing.

  • Valmet's unique Yankee dryer structure with energy-saving hoods

Combined with an efficient steam and condensate system, these features deliver superior drying efficiency. Steam and electricity consumption are much better than industry standards, and the hood requires zero maintenance, significantly reducing operator workload.

  • Valmet's reel section

The main arm is hydraulically loaded and equipped with a nip-relieving system for the reel spools, enabling better paper caliper control and waste reduction. The reel control box is designed for on-machine operation, allowing single-person jumbo change operations and improving overall efficiency, which helps to increase the production output.
