Valmet’s sustainability e-learning aims at increasing knowledge of Valmet’s approach in sustainability and to familiarize all Valmeteers with the basics of sustainability.
Learning to identify and seize the opportunities that sustainability brings to business is crucial to company’s future success.
Valmet continuously aims at increasing its employees’ awareness and understanding of sustainability. As a part of this work, Valmet launched a company-wide sustainability e-learning course in February 2018.
Implementing sustainability in day-to-day work
The objective of the e-learning is to increase knowledge of Valmet’s approach in sustainability and to familiarize all Valmeteers with the basics of sustainability.
"The sustainability e-learning lays the foundation for understanding our individual roles in working towards a successful and more sustainable future. It is aimed at challenging to think about what sustainability means in our day-to-day work and how we can implement it in our actions and decision-making,” says Anu Salonsaari-Posti, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability, Valmet.
A signal of dedication to sustainability
The training consists of three different modules: Sustainability at Valmet; Sustainable supply chain; and Developing and selling sustainable solutions. The first module is mandatory for all white-collar employees at Valmet. By the end of 2018, approximately 60 percent of white-collar employees had completed the first module.
One of the participants, Hanna Karlsson, describes the mandatory course as a signal of Valmet’s dedication to sustainability.
“It’s very good that Valmet strengthens the understanding of sustainability with this mandatory e-learning, as it gives a signal of the importance of the issue. Sustainable technologies and products as well as resource efficiency maintain our life on this planet. Additionally, sustainability is important for Valmet’s business, because we won’t have long-term business if we don’t focus on it,” says Hanna Karlsson, Manager, LignoBoost Technology, Pulp and Energy business line, Valmet.
