Valmet’s innovative screen basket design contributes to excellent runnability at Norske Skog Bruck PM4

Valmet’s innovative laminar design Screen Basket was installed at Norske Skog Bruck’s PM4 with good results: there was a clear performance boost in the approach flow system and improved runnability.
Valmet Screen Basket VF is the first screen basket particularly designed for machine screening applications. It fits a wide range of screens from many different suppliers. For Norske Skog Bruck, Valmet delivered a Screen Basket VF specifically adapted for the production process of the mill’s PM4.
Less paper breaks and better runnability
The Valmet Screen Basket VF technology creates non-turbulent and streamlined flow through the accept channel providing excellent runnability.
“The new laminar design screen basket Valmet delivered improved the flow through the basket of the primary screen improving the overall screening performance notably. The spinning we had experienced before was significantly reduced”, says Enzo Zadra, Managing Director, Norske Skog Bruck.
Tailored screen basket design
Prior to the installation of new screen basket, Valmet and the mill carried out a process study to identify the root causes for machine screen spinning.
“We found out that the conventional screen basket technology was no more optimal for our current production process and thus causing spinning issues. We also received comprehensive flow calculations of the PM approach system and were generally convinced by Valmet’s unique laminar design screen basket. The co-operation was very smooth, and we appreciate Valmet’s way of looking at things from our perspective”, says Zadra.

Unique laminar design wedge wire
Valmet manufactures high-quality screen baskets for most of the screen makes and models to fit all approach flow processes. Due to its high-capacity laminar design wedge wire, Valmet Screen Basket VF saves pumping energy and thus improves screening efficiency.
