Flow control partner spotlight: Weidner Pro
Mar 1, 2025
Channel partners provide a valuable network to support our flow control customers all over the world. This time we interviewed Wedner Pro, a certified Valmet partner for the Flow Control business line in North America. Recently, Valmet and Weidner reached a partnership milestone of 30 years of innovation and teamwork.

Could you describe your company in a few sentences?
Founded in 1959 and located in Midvale, Utah, Weidner started as a distribution center for process instrumentation and controls in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Nevada. Over the next 60 years, they expanded their business by adding new products and business lines, such as plant services, fire division sales, and the company’s sales force. These expansions have allowed them to help protect people, reduce downtime, and increase quality by supplying critical equipment and field services throughout the Intermountain West to a variety of industries including:
- Mining & metals
- Oil & gas
- Water treatment
- Energy
- Life sciences
Can you tell us briefly about your history of cooperation with Valmet?
Weidner and Valmet (previously Flowrox) have been partners for over 30 years to provide industry-leading valve and pump solutions in the Intermountain West. Weidner’s valuable relationships with local OEMs have contributed to sales of Flowrox mining solutions across the globe.
Can you tell us about a recent customer challenge?
When a global precious metals refining company was looking to expand its West Valley City, Utah operation, they reached out to Weidner and Valmet in search of a pinch valve solution that could stand up to the rigorous nature of their slurry process. Weidner’s quick response and customer care combined with offering the leading pinch valve technology allowed us to get in the door and the Flowrox heavy-duty pinch valve was chosen/picked as the ideal solution for their gold production flow control.
How did the solutions help them?
“Valmet and Weidner were jointly on every call and email thread with the customer. Valmet did a terrific job of keeping things moving and passing the project to the appropriate people" said Alec Templeton, a Weidner Account Manager. This led to the customer purchasing 62 Flowrox heavy-duty enclosed 3” pinch valves and 26 Flowrox heavy-duty enclosed 6” pinch valves for their refining process. Our heavy-duty pinch valves ensure the lowest total cost of ownership in flow control for demanding slurry applications, e.g., grinding, screening, cyclone separation, flotation, thickening, filtering, and tailings applications.
All about team work
Valmet Flow Control Project Manager Drew Schneider and Alec Templeton from Weidner Pro worked as a team to provide this solution to our customers. “The project went smoothly. We received the purchase order well in advance which gave us plenty of time to complete engineering, get customer approvals, and handle purchasing without any issues. Working with Weidner was straightforward—no major challenges, and everything stayed on track." concludes Schneider.
