Engineering Insights from Pulp and Energy Graduate Trainees

As part of our university collaboration work, Valmet team in India welcomed Graduate Engineer Trainees (GET’s) in October 2023. Among them are Ms. S Manisha and Mr. M Sudhakar, who have embarked on their careers in the Engineering department at Valmet’s Pulp and Energy Business Line. Let's hear about their experiences during these past few months.

Ms. S Manisha and Mr. M Sudhakar, who began their careers as graduate engineer trainees in the Engineering department at Valmet in India.

 

You have now worked for more than 6 months as Graduate Engineer Trainees. How are you doing and what have you done so far? 

“The orientation period offered a valuable opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of Valmet before beginning the actual work, and its flexibility made it easy to integrate with our training. So far, we have completed several small development tasks and participated in various meetings and workshops. We believe that interacting with experienced professionals in these settings is the most effective way to learn. This environment has facilitated our development and allowed us to make the most of our strengths.”

How have your expectations been met? How would you describe the ability to fulfill your strengths and yourself until now?

“Our expectations have been largely met through a combination of engaging tasks and valuable learning experiences. The orientation period provided a thorough introduction to the company, aligning well with our initial goal of understanding Valmet’s operations. The hands-on projects and opportunities to participate in meetings and workshops have allowed us to apply and expand our knowledge in practical ways.”

 

The guidance and encouragement from our colleagues, seniors and mentors have been invaluable in our professional development. The opportunities for continuous learning and the emphasis on personal growth have made our experience here not only professionally rewarding but also personally fulfilling.

 

How do your personal values align with Valmet’s values at work? How would you describe the meaningfulness of work?

“Our personal values align closely with Valmet’s values, particularly in the areas of integrity, innovation, and collaboration.
