HART

A communications protocol

HART is widely used in the process industries to monitor and configure analog process instrumentation. Hart has a very strong following and has helped many plants enhance their process performance, by reducing set-up time and enabling instrument diagnostics.

HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) was developed in the mid 1980s to enable greater data communication with field instrumentation like transmitters and controllers. This Bidirectional communication protocol provides for data transfer between smart instrumentation and a host system Asset management tool or handheld tool.

It provides accurate information flow during commissioning, operation or maintenance of a production process.
