The Valmet DNA Heat Exchanger Performance Monitoring application provides power plant personnel with valuable information about the performance, condition and operating efficiency of various heat exchangers – both in real time and retrospectively. The Valmet DNA Heat Exchanger Performance Monitoring application continuously calculates, displays and stores main heat exchanger performance parameters. It provides calculations for such heat exchangers as steam condensers, HP and LP preheaters and district heat exchangers.
The calculated performance parameters include:
- Effect [MW]
- Heat transfer coefficient (for condenser) [W/°C]
- Temperature efficiency (for heat exchangers) [ - ]
- Terminal temperature difference [°C] or, alternately log mean temperature difference [°C]
Ensuring highest possible power plant availability
The application helps power plant maintenance and operating personnel detect potential problems in heat exchanger operation and analyze those that have occurred. This prevents failures proactively – before they cause unpredicted shutdowns. Additionally, extensive storage of history data enables long-term monitoring of gradual component deterioration and mechanical failures, for significantly improved maintenance planning.
