High volume of uncontrolled ambient temperature air was being pulled in between lime bed and burner. Burner flame tipping up, increasing wear on refractory liner. Required ID fan to be operated at a much higher RPM rate to maintain negative draft. Required additional fuel to heat the lime product to quality standards.
