The work was completed safely and as planned in 22 days, with over 35,000 man-hours worked without any injuries – a great credit to the Valmet team. Valmet’s team worked closely with the E.ON project team in the planning stages and the execution of the work.”

Summary

Location Lockerbie, Scotland
Customer challenge The 44 MW Steven’s Croft power plant had come to a point where its bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) power boiler, originally supplied by Valmet, needed an upgrade. E.ON requested tenders to find the best solution for the upgrade, but also to find a partner who could support the plant in its day-to-day challenges over the long term.
Solution Redesigned economizers with new plain tubes replacing finned tube economizers to prevent ash blocking and inconel overlay to furnace to prevent corrosion.
Results Boiler performs with same KPIs with better availability. Work was completed safely and as planned in 22 days leading to successful start-up of the upgraded power plant.
