Visy's Coolaroo paper mill in Australia installed a Valmet Optical Consistency Measurement to monitor white water dilution and maintain the stability of the wet end. The Valmet OC2W model is especially designed for stock preparation’s short circulation applications.

The Valmet unit appears to be running well and is reasonably accurate day to day, requiring little intervention from operators to maintain. It is accurate enough for us to see swings in base ply retentions, enabling the operators to then spot check and act if required, it has been a useful addition to the instruments used at VP5 to maintain stability of the wet end.
