Hanchang Paper increased quality and profitability with Valmet screening
Hanchang Paper faced challenges in its DIP line due to high levels of stickies in the recycled pulp. The mill invested in Valmet’s advanced coarse and fine screening solutions.
As one of the leading board producers in its market, Hanchang Paper is committed to continuously improving product quality and operational efficiency. With a strong focus on innovation and reliability, the company strives to deliver high-performing paper and board grades while ensuring stable processes.
Hanchang Paper faced challenges in its DIP line due to high levels of stickies in the recycled pulp. These contaminants became visible through the chemical-pulp top layer, compromising the visual quality of the final product. To maintain acceptable quality, the mill needed to purchase higher-grade raw material instead of standard ONP (old news paper) and OMG (old magazines), significantly increasing production costs and undermining profitability.
To address this challenge, Hanchang Paper worked closely with Valmet to conduct a full DIP line audit, which revealed the key bottlenecks in the screening process. Based on the findings, Hanchang Paper invested in Valmet’s advanced coarse and fine screening solutions. The upgrade project progressed well through this close collaboration with good results.
After a smooth project with Valmet, we are able to use standard ONP/OMG raw material which improves our profitability. Even with the lower quality raw material, we measured lower sticky amount at the board machine. The project clearly paid off”, says Mr. Ha, Project Manager, Hanchang Paper.
With the improved screening efficiency, Hanchang Paper can now use standard raw material without sacrificing quality. In fact, sticky levels at the board machine have dropped even compared to previous operations with higher-quality raw material. The investment has delivered clear operational and financial benefits.
