Bio-oil

Wood-based biomasses are well suited as raw material for bio-oil. This can replace fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Other future possibilities include the use of bio-oil as a raw material for different chemical products and transportation fuels.

Lignin production

LignoBoost® makes it possible for Kraft pulp mills to produce high-quality lignin. Lignin is a renewable material with possible uses in a wide range of industries. Using lignin instead of fossil materials will lower emissions of CO2.

Second generation bioethanol and Biochemicals

Valmet provides front-end technology for the production of second-generation bioethanol (2G ethanol) and biochemicals.

Steam treated pellets

“Steam treated pellets” is the generic name for a range of thermally-treated biofuel pellets intended for substitution of fossil-origin material in heat and power production. Woody biomass or agricultural residues can be processed into steam treated pellets via various methods, including hydrothermal carbonization, torrefaction (mild pyrolysis) and steam treatment.
